This research process isn’t anything I thought it would be like to write a University paper. For my paper I chose the psychology prompt because psychology is something I am very interested in. I find it easy for me to understand psychology because of my own personal experience. At first I wanted to have my paper be on Abusive Relationships but then after researching I found more articles on the psychological changes/affects that develop as we develop. It got difficult when it came time to finding 10 abstracts, I must have gone through over 500 just to find them, but while going through those 500 I payed attention to other information I could use in a future paper. I have never heard of an abstract before and probably would have just “googled” any information I needed to write a paper. Now that I know how to use the online library I have more options to use when writing a paper. Personally I probably wouldn’t use ten abstracts, maybe more like 5 for my paper. This is because when finding ten I felt like I had to use whatever I could find that slightly related to my project because I couldn’t find ten that were exactly what I needed. After writing my first abstract and got my comments back I realized I didn’t relate my abstract with my thesis properly. I had so many ideas being thrown into the abstract that I couldn’t explain it properly in my thesis. I had to go back and really rethink my process. The notes helped guide my idea and gave me inspiration for my revision. Now I have completed the abstract and thesis and feel they connect and relate which they should. All together I will use this process in the future as a guide to writing a paper. It was helpful in getting organized and set up and I feel like if I had to I could write a ten page paper on my topic easily with all the information I now have.
